FORtis bc: $5,000 in rebates (Updated June 2025)

FortisBC continues to provide valuable opportunities through its furnace rebates BC and heat pump incentives. Electrically heated homes can qualify for up to $4,000 when installing a heat pump that covers 80% or more of the home’s heating needs, or $1,500 for systems that cover at least 50%. Income-qualified households can access even higher government rebates for furnaces 2024 and heat pumps—up to $12,000 for whole-home systems or $5,000 for partial systems. All equipment must meet cold-climate performance standards and be installed by a Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) member. Applications are due within six months of the installation invoice.

For dual-fuel systems that combine an electric heat pump with a high-efficiency gas furnace, homeowners can receive a $5,000 rebate for installations completed on or after May 1, 2025. Projects completed before this date may still qualify for the previous $10,000 rebate if they meet earlier program deadlines. FortisBC also offers appliance maintenance rebates including $50 for servicing a furnace or boiler, $25 for each of up to two fireplaces, and $50 for tankless water heaters. Maintenance work must be completed by June 30, 2025, and claimed within 60 days of service.

Homeowners newly connecting to natural gas can earn a $1,000 bonus when installing eligible high-efficiency gas appliances. To qualify, pre-registration must be completed by December 31, 2025, with installation invoiced by March 31, 2026. To ensure eligibility, confirm your contractor and equipment meet FortisBC program requirements and submit your application early, as funding is limited.

BC hydro: up to $4,000 in rebates (Updated june 2025)

The BC heat pump rebate doesn’t stop with FortisBC. Homeowners in British Columbia may now be eligible for up to $4,000 in rebates when they replace their existing electric heating system with a qualifying heat pump. This offer is part of the Home Renovation Rebate Program, a partnership between BC Hydro, FortisBC, and the Government of B.C. designed to promote energy-efficient home upgrades.

Rebate Amounts:

-
$4,000 for whole-home systems that can heat 80% or more of the home,
- $ 1,500 for partial-home systems that heat 50% or more of the home

Key Eligibility Requirements: To qualify, the heat pump must replace an electric heating system and meet specific product and installation standards. The installation must be completed by a contractor who is part of the Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN). Applications must be submitted within six months of the installation invoice date. Rebates are only available while funding lasts.

Bonus Rebates Available: Homeowners may qualify for an additional rebate of up to $2,000 if they complete multiple eligible upgrades, such as insulation or window replacements, alongside the heat pump installation.

Important Program Changes: As of April 11, 2025, rebates for fuel switching from natural gas, oil, or propane to electric heat pumps have ended. However, applications may still be accepted if work was completed or quotes were received before that date. For full details, eligibility criteria, and the application process, homeowners should refer to the official BC Hydro rebate program page.

Clean bc: up to $19,000 in rebates (Updated june 2025)

As of June 2025, CleanBC continues to offer a range of rebates to help British Columbians make their homes more energy efficient through two main programs: the Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program and the CleanBC Energy Savings Program for income-qualified households.

Under the Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program, homeowners who upgrade from electric resistance heating to a qualified heat pump can receive up to $4,000 in rebates. While the fuel-switching rebate for those replacing natural gas, oil, propane, or wood systems ended on April 11, 2025, homeowners who completed the work or received quotes before that date may still be eligible for up to $3,000 in combined rebates.

Homeowners living in northern B.C. (north of 100 Mile House) may qualify for enhanced rebate amounts. These include up to $6,000 for central or ductless heat pumps, up to $8,000 for dual-fuel ducted systems, up to $7,000 for air-to-water systems or combination heating and hot water heat pumps, and up to $1,000 for heat pump water heaters. CleanBC also offers a $500 rebate for electrical service upgrades. Additional rebates are available for insulation (up to $5,500) and window or door upgrades (up to $2,000). If multiple upgrades are completed together, homeowners can receive a bonus rebate of up to $2,000.

The CleanBC Energy Savings Program is designed for income-qualified households and offers higher rebate values. Eligible homeowners can receive up to $19,000 for a full heat pump installation, depending on the type of system and the household income level. Heat pump water heaters are eligible for rebates up to $3,500, and electrical panel or service upgrades can receive up to $5,000. Additional rebates include up to $5,500 for insulation, up to $9,500 for window and door upgrades, $1,600 for ventilation improvements, and $800 for health and safety upgrades. Homeowners in northern regions may qualify for additional top-ups, including up to $3,000 more when switching from fossil fuels.

To qualify for any of these BC heat pump rebates, air conditioner rebates BC, or government rebates for furnaces 2024, installations must be completed by licensed contractors and must meet CleanBC program specifications. Rebate applications for most upgrades—including furnace rebates BC and other heating and cooling Victoria BC incentives—must be submitted within six months of the installation invoice. The Energy Savings Program rebates are typically applied for by the contractor directly, not the homeowner. Homeowners are encouraged to act promptly, as funding for these rebates for air conditioners and other energy-efficient upgrades is limited and subject to change.
